IB History Is Changing: What the New Course Means for Students Starting in 2026
The International Baccalaureate has redesigned Diploma Programme History for students who begin teaching in August 2026 and sit their first examinations in May 2028. The course still asks students to investigate evidence, compare interpretations and construct historical arguments, but the content architecture, all three examination papers and the internal assessment have changed. A student entering the course in 2026 should therefore use the new guide and new specimen material, not simply inherit a folder of strategies written for the previous syllabus.
