1st Grade Vocabulary Words

First-grade vocabulary grows from phonics into fluent reading. Children meet common sight words, irregular spellings, useful classroom language, and everyday words that help them understand stories and simple informational texts.

These 300 words do not repeat the Phonics/CVC level. The list is informed by the supplied high-frequency-word poster and public first-grade vocabulary references, then reorganized into original lessons with newly written meanings, examples, reading, and questions.
